When I saw the numbers and created these charts I was stunned, and wondered how our elected representatives can believe they are working in our best interest. As you can see, the problem isn’t that tax rates are too low. It’s that our government spending is out of control!
I didn’t make up these numbers – I found them on the website of the 'non-partisan' Congressional Budget Office. I wanted to see the information Congress was considering when they voted for the Health Care bill.
Remember, the Health Care law was approved after the new federal budget was submitted. These CBO forecasts were provided to show what would happen with both the health care bill and the proposed budget.
AND THEY PASSED IT ANYWAY!
